For Instructors

This lesson explores urban sprawl. Students analyze urban growth patterns at the national level and then compare the density changes associated with various urban areas in the United States. Students then research their own metropolitan area to determine whether it is currently contributing to urban sprawl and suggest how land use policies may have contributed to its current state.
