We are proud to announce that The Mediterranean City Conference 2014 is a Greek EU Presidency 2014 event under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research & Technology (GSRT). It is organised by the European Commission, the Eurisy, the Mediterranean City Climate Change Consortium (MC-4), the Mariolopoulos – Kanaginis Foundation for the Environmental Sciences and the Research Center for Climatology and Atmospheric Physics, Academy of Athens.

MC-4 Participated in COP 19 side event in Warsaw

Led by MC-4 member and Senior Scientific Manager at CMCC, the network participated in the discussion “Implementing Climate Action on the basis of Territorial Cooperation” at COP 19 in Warsaw, November 2013.

The World Health Organization launches new tool to estimate health costs of climate change.

WHO/Europe developed a new tool to help Member States estimate the costs associated with damage to health due to climate change, and those of adaptation in various sectors to protect health. Read more about the tools here.

Global NAMA Financing Summit a Success

MC-4 partner CCAP played a key role in the summit’s development of a shared vision among the participants for the critical role Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) play in advancing climate mitigation. Built on two years of collaboration, this event marked a milestone in climate finance support, NAMA interest in developing countries, and the future of NAMA policy. UCLA’s Luskin Center releases study on Energy Security Investments in LA

UCLA’s J.R. DeShazo debuted results of the Luskin Center study Moving Towards Resiliency. The study provides a foundation to advance energy efficiency and clean energy generation, with an associated workshop serving as a roadmap for collaboration between Los Angeles’s two Ports, their electric utilities and port terminal operators.

The European Union releases groundbreaking EU Adaptation Strategy

Through its strategy on adaptation to climate change, the EU has set out a framework and mechanisms for taking the EU’s preparedness for current and future climate impacts to a new level The Commission has also adopted a Green Paper in insurance in the context of natural and man-made disasters.
